What people ask us most

Is SailMeteo really free?

Yes. The app and the website are free, funded by discreet advertising. An ad-free purchase is available for those who prefer to remove it — every weather and routing feature is identical either way.

How does offline mode work?

Before leaving you select an area on the map and pick which models to download. Forecasts are stored on the device: once offshore you keep reading wind, waves and currents with no connection, up to the downloaded range.

What is the routing based on?

On your boat's polars (yours, or a default set), your motoring speed and your own limits: maximum wind and gusts, wave height, visibility, night sailing, plus optional swell, wind wave, adverse current, rain and thunderstorm risk. Every criterion can be switched off.

Are my settings shared between iPhone and web?

Yes, as soon as you have an account. Areas, boat profile, routing criteria, units and favourites sync both ways, near instantly.

What data is collected?

Your email for the account, and whatever you save yourself (areas, boat profile, settings). Nothing is sold to third parties, and full account deletion takes one tap inside the app.
